Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United in the summer and it is unclear where the 37-year-old superstar will go. The likes of Bayern Munich have been linked with the Portuguese
Bayern is one of three clubs, aside from Chelsea and SSC Napoli, that are considering signing Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo is considered as an option in case Lewandowski leaves.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Bayern were in contact with Ronaldo’s super-agent Jorge Mendes just under a week ago. He reportedly offered the football legend to the German record champions and other top clubs.
The German tabloid BILD and the Spanish MARCA report that Bayern Munich have decided against the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. The reason for it is that Ronaldo is too old and too expensive for the Bayern bosses. Rumor has it that the 37-year-old currently earns almost 30 million euros at Manchester United. Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic has also denied speculation about Ronaldo and Bayern.
However, Fabrizio Romano claims that Ronaldo is still an option for Bayern should Robert Lewandowski actually leave Bayern in the summer: “Something could change. Let’s see what happens when Lewandowski leaves to move to Barcelona.“
The Ronaldo rumor to Bayern is certainly interesting, though it remains to be seen if the club could consider signing the player. Although in terms of salary Ronaldo could be quite expensive, in terms of economics and marketing altogether, the transfer could become an absolute boost to sales, sponsorship, and marketing. After all, it’s Cristiano Ronaldo. Juventus FC took the risk back in 2018. Let’s see if Bayern can pull off such a deal.
In the end, the sources reporting an interest from Bayern on Ronaldo are quite reliable and close to the entourage of Cristiano. Given the inconsistent rumor record from BILD and Marca, it is safe to say that it’s going to be interesting if Hasan Salihamidzic will truly go after Ronaldo, even though he „denied“ it somehow
