Bayern Munich are facing competition for the VfB Stuttgart’s striker Sasa Kalajdzic. According to reports, runners-up Borussia Dortmund have joined the race for the Austrian.
Last week, the Bavarians held two meetings with the agent of Kalajdzic, Sacha Empacher and the player himself. The agent was spotted in Munich to initiate negotiations with the Bayern board. Julian Nagelsmann is also pushing for the transfer as he has been a long time fan of the Austrian since he was the head coach of RB Leipzig.
But things could now take an unexpected turn. According to the German tabloid BILD, Borussia Dortmund have also joined the race to sign Sasa Kalajdzic following the departure of Erling Haaland to Manchester City next season.
The Austrian himself, as per BILD, favors a move to Dortmund than Bayern Munich. After the departure of Haaland, the chances for the Austrian to become a regular starter would increase highly.
Even though Robert Lewandowski is leaving Bayern in the summer, Kalajdzic thinks that a move to Bayern would not be conceivable for him since he would be replacing not only the best player in the world but also a football legend. Dortmund’s coach Marco Rose was said to have doubts about the Austrian, but with the sacking of the German and the appointment of Edin Terzic, the transfer should be picking up speed as he is a very big fan of the player.
Kalajdzic’s price would be 25 million, which is significantly less than Sebastian Haller.
