In the past few weeks there has been a lot of speculation about Sven Ulreich’s future. Now it has finally been clarified, the German will play for another season in Munich
Bayern Munich announced on Saturday that Manuel Neuer’s backup has extended his expiring contract until the summer of 2023. After Thomas Müller, the goalkeeper is the second player to extend his contract in Munich this week.
Sport director Hasan Salihamidzic commented as follows: „We are delighted that Sven will stay with FC Bayern for another year. With his character and his mentality, he fits perfectly into our group. Sven has an excellent understanding of his role and is always there when you need him.”

The 33-year-old himself is looking forward to another year with the German record champions: „FC Bayern has become like a family over the years. I look forward to another year here. I enjoy the task of staying behind the world’s best like Manuel Neuer, we have a friendly, collegial relationship with each other.“
Born in Schorndorf, Ulreich moved to FC Bayern in 2015, he played for HSV for a season in between and has played 78 competitive games for Bayern so far. The goalkeeper was German champion 6 times, won the Pokal three times and won the Champions League once with Bayern.
