Alexander Nübel is receiving the playing time at AS Monaco that FC Bayern couldn’t offer him. Despite initial criticism from the French media, the keeper has made stable performances and is well integrated into the French league.
Recently, reports have been circulating that Monaco would like to keep the German longer. So far, there have been no talks between the two clubs. Due to the loan contract until 2023, Nübel will stay at AS Monaco for at least one more year. There have been frequent rumors that the Ligue 1 club would like to sign the keeper on a permanent deal.
However, “Sky” puts an end to the speculations. The Pay-TV broadcaster reports that there are currently no plans to buy the goalkeeper on a permanent deal. Instead, everything should go on as planned. This means that Nübel will keep receiving playing minutes at Monaco until the summer of 2023 and then return to FC Bayern.
There are at least indications that Manuel Neuer should sign a new contract until 2025. Nübel, who is still under contract in Munich until 2025, would have to sit on the Bayern bench for two more years. This scenario is only partially realistic as Nübel himself has already ruled this out.
Though, a permanent transfer to Monaco shouldn’t be far unrealistic. Should the 25-year-old keeper feel comfortable with his current loan club and Bayern extend Neuer, he could certainly put pressure on those responsible to be allowed to stay long-term.
