Alphonso Davies excited to be back: „I’m not at 100 percent yet, but I’m ready to work again!“
Alphonso Davies was sidelined for almost three months due to myocarditis, and now the Canadian is finally celebrating his comeback on the training pitch.
The left-back’s long waiting come-back on the green field in front of the fans is approaching and the chances that Davies could feature for the first time in the squad against SC Freiburg are high. Davies had trained individually and increased the training intensity up until Tuesday when he was seen completing partial exercises of team training.
Davies‘ rehab training continues and in an interview for the club’s website, the Canadian revealed that he was very excited to be on the pitch again. „I’m happy to be back at Säbener Straße. The regeneration is going well so far. I don’t have any problems with my muscles or heart, but I’m not at 100 percent – yet!“
Being out for three months with myocarditis without having to do with anything might have certainly been dangerous and boring at the same time, but after the recovery, Davies is now ready to take the next step and follows every medical advice and training in order to be back in top shape.
„I’m giving my best. I’m working closely with the medical and rehab staff. I’m training very, very hard with and without the ball, run a lot, and do power training. I hope to be able to help the team again soon.“
„The last 4 to 8 weeks were very boring and mentally difficult. I made a lot of music in my studio. My family stayed here for a long time and I visited my girlfriend in Paris once or twice. Otherwise, it was just: wait, wait, wait..“
