Robert Lewandowski’s uncertain future has been causing unrest at Bayern Munich for weeks. Contract talks with the top scorer have not yet started. Hasan Salihamidzic has now commented on the current situation.
Before the Bundesliga game against Union Berlin, the Bayern sports director emphasized that Bayern have their own schedule. However, the 44-year-old did not want to reveal how concrete this looks like: “Basically, we have our plans. Unfortunately I can’t tell you. When we have results, we share them. We’ll do our job,“ he told Sky.
“We are in a difficult financial phase”
The Bosnian also made it clear that the open future will not affect the Pole: „I see him as very focused. We have big goals. He is fully professional and suits us perfectly.”
With a view to the planned extensions of Lewandowski, Thomas Müller, and Manuel Neuer, according to Salihamidzic, the record champions will do everything to ensure that the successful trio continues to play at Bayern in the long term, even if this is anything but easy in the current situation: „We have a difficult financial period. So we have to go our own way and we will try everything.”
