Bayern Munich are at risk of losing another transfer target on the goalkeeping position. German-Spaniard goalkeeper of Arminia Bielefeld Stefan Ortega has been linked with the record champions for a transfer in the summer. Unfortunately, it looks like Bayern could be losing out on the goalkeeper due to his other preferred destination.
Despite „BILD“ reporting recently that talks between Ortega and Bayern were ongoing, there was nothing agreed. Ortega has doubts whether would it be conceivable for him to join a club where Manuel Neuer is the undisputed number one.
There are other interested parties such as Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid. According to ‚kicker‘, Stefan Ortega prefers a move to Bayer Leverkusen, the club are also considering serious attempts to sign the goalkeeper.
Ortega wants to play internationally as number one
In addition to finding the competition for the spot much easier at Leverkusen than at Bayern, Stefan Ortega prefers Leverkusen also due to the international competition. Ortega would like to go to a club where he would play as a number one also at the biggest stage. According to ‚Sky Germany‘, Bayer Leverkusen have already commenced talks with Ortega and are considering a serious move for the goalkeeper.
With Bayern probably losing out on Ortega, Sven Ulreich could extend his contract at Bayern. But of course, we need to wait and see what happens.
Update #Ortega: As reported last week. The interest of Leverkusen is serious. Talks have taken place with his management. Ortega wants to be the No. 1 in his new club. He wants to play international. @SkySportsNews https://t.co/NX5M2yHnxw
