In recent weeks, there have been numerous rumors and speculations surrounding Leon Goretzka and his future at FC Bayern. The 26-year-old midfielder is contractually bound to the record champion only until 2022. Even though contract talks have recently stalled a bit, head coach Julian Nagelsmann firmly believes that Goretzka will extend his contract at FCB.
With Manchester United, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, three top clubs are said to be interested in the German international. The Red Devils in particular are said to be very interested. Despite the tempting calls from abroad, a departure from Munich seems unlikely. According to consistent media reports, Goretzka tends to stay at Säbener Straße. Julian Nagelsmann has also confirmed this.
“It is normal that he knocks off his value”.
The FCB coach stressed to “Sky” that he has already spoken with Goretzka about his future and has received clear signals in the direction of a contract extension: “He’s up for Bayern Munich, he’s up for the team. I think you can also see that in the way he plays.”
According to Nagelsmann, it is also quite normal that the extension has not yet been signed and sealed: “It is also quite normal that a player always thinks about his future and reflects a bit and knocks off his value.”
The 33-year-old also outed himself as a big fan of Goretzka: “We all want him to stay here, he’s an outstanding player who is certainly one of the most goal-scoring players in the midfield of the Bundesliga, but also one of the most dangerous midfielders in Europe. He has incredible dynamism and is a solid building block in my mind as well.” Nagelsmann would be happy if he could work with him for “another three, four, five, six years.”
