USL midfielder Jose Gallegos has been handed a two-week trial by Bayern Munich and will travel to Bavaria this week.
According to ‘The Athletic’ reporter Paulo Tenorio, Gallegos is being given a short stint to impress manager Hansi Flick, who could consider bringing on the 19-year-old permanently, if he likes what he sees.
San Antonio FC’s Jose Gallegos, 19, is headed to Germany for a two-week training stint/assessment with Bayern Munich ahead of a potential transfer, per a source. Gallegos was a finalist for 2020 USL Young Player of the Year.

Gallegos is currently under contract with San Antonio FC in the USL. As per Transfermarkt, he has three goals and four assists in 33 games across competitions for the club, and has a market value of $110,000.
An official statement from San Antonio FC read:
Gallegos made his SAFC debut last season in the U.S. Open Cup second round at home against the Laredo Heat, coming on in the second half as San Antonio progressed to the third round. (Gallegos) would go on to appear in 14 league matches (600 minutes) while recording a goal, assist and 11 chances created in 2019.
The San Antonio native has been involved in the SAFC first team environment since 2018 having previously participated in the club’s Elite Training Program. Gallegos has played local club soccer with Classic Elite Soccer Club, while also attending and playing for Central Catholic High School. While with Central, Gallegos served as team captain and won four straight TAPPS State Championships.
Gallegos has featured mostly as an attacking midfielder since making his debut and was a finalist for the USL Championship Young Player of the Year award in 2020.
Bayern signed Justin Che earlier this year from Dallas FC, and Gallegos could follow in Che and Chris Richards’ footsteps, who swapped playing in America for Germany.
