Interim Marseille boss Nasser Larguet has admitted he hopes Mohamed Salah joins Bayern Munich in the future.
Salah continues to star for Liverpool and is the top-scorer in the Premier League with 17 goals until now. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side have struggled massively this season, and by his own admission, have fallen out of the title race. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City sit pretty at the top of the table with 19 points, and look certain to go all the way.
The Egyptian has been linked with a switch away from Anfield in the past, and has been linked to LaLiga giants, Real Madrid.
And now, Larguet has said he hopes Salah will leave Liverpool to sign for Bayern. “I love Liverpool very much and I am sad for their recent poor results. I think the failure to recruit last summer affected the team,” Larguet was quoted as saying by Le10 Sport.
“Salah is currently one of the best players in the world. I hope he will join Bayern Munich because they have several stars who can help him.”
Salah’s contract at Liverpool lasts until 2023, and Klopp has insisted that the midfielder will stay at the club.
Rummenigge’s comments about Salah stoke the fire
Earlier this month, Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge praised Salah, and described him as the “Lionel Messi of Africa”.
Rummenigge believes Salah’s performances are on par with Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“In my opinion, Salah is the Messi of Africa and of course he got the skills to play in the best teams in the world,” Rumminegge told ON Time Sports (h/t Kingfut).
“What he [Salah] has achieved can be compared to what Messi and Ronaldo did with Barcelona and Real Madrid.”
He also said that while Bayern do not intend on signing Salah right now, he would be someone they would consider working with in the future.
He added: “At the moment we don’t plan on signing Salah, but certainly it would be an honour to have him.”
