According to Derek Rae from ESPN, a report from Kicker states that Bayern Munich wants to keep Eric-Maxim Choupo- Moting at the Allianz for another season.
The report says that the hierarchy at Bayern is pleased with the striker’s contribution so far as a backup to Robert Lewandowski and feels that he can do the job again next season.
Another loanee Douglas Costa will not be as fortunate. The Juventus loaned player has not hit any heights during his second loan spell with the Bavarian club and according to the report, Costa will be on his way back to Turin.
Kicker reporting while it’s unlikely Douglas Costa will return to Bayern on loan from Juve next term, Eric Choupo-Moting has a future. The decision makers are happy with his brief on pitch cameos & value him as an integrative, multilingual & convivial dressing room contributor.

The news that Choupo-Moting will be staying at Bayern is a little eyebrow-raising, but clearly, the club feels that both Fiete Arp who is on loan at Bayern Munich II, and Joshua Zirkzee who is on loan at Everton, are not up to being a regular back up for Lewandowski.

It appears that neither Zirkzee nor Arp have taken the mantle as the No.2 to Lewandowski and it appears that the club feels better having a veteran waiting in the wings rather than the youngsters.
Perhaps after another year on loan, both Arp and Zirkzee will be pushing to be part of Hansi Flick’s plans but at this stage, the league leaders feel that Choupo-Moting is a good backup going forward.
