Stefan Backs, the agent of Bayern Munich backup keeper Alexander Nubel, stated that his client needs to be playing more regularly for the current Bundesliga and European champions.
Backs spoke with Az:
“Overall, Alex feels very comfortable at Bayern,” Backs said. “There is of course a small drawback: he has to get more games at some point,” Back said.

So far this campaign, Nubel has made two appearances for Bayern. He played the full 90 minutes in the first round of the DFB-Pokal which was a 3-0 win over FC Duren. His other appearance was a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League after Bayern had already qualified for the knockout stages.
With Nubel only making two starts this year, Backs said that the backup keeper is not concerned about his future long term with Bayern.
“Alex is a relaxed guy, his contract in Munich runs until 2025. We worked out several scenarios with Bayern as to how the next few years could go . Bayern is a long-term project for Alex.”
Backs goes on to say that he still firmly believes that his client is in the right environment to keep learning from the world’s best in Manuel Neuer.
“The last six months at Schalke were difficult for Alex; not everything went right on the club side,” Backs stated. “What Alex is learning from Manuel Neuer is above all the mental focus. To be there on the spot, even if you are hardly challenged for more than 90 minutes: That is what sets Neuer apart — and that’s where Alex wants to get there.”
Being at the club and learning of Neuer is a valuable way to cut your teeth, however with Neuer clearly the No.1 at Bayern for years to come, Nubel will find his opportunities hard to come by. A loan might be the best option for him if he is looking for consistent first-team football.
