Manuel Neuer has sent a heartwarming message to Bayern Munich fans in the foreword of the latest edition of the FCB members’ magazine ’51’.
Neuer was crowned The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper 2020 alongside Robert Lewandowski who won The FIFA Best Men’s Player. Both players have been extremely influential for Hansi Flick’s side this year.
Ahead of the New Year, Neuer has taken some time out to send a message to the club faithful.
“On behalf of the team, I wish you all the best for 2021, with happiness and joy, not least regarding your FC Bayern — and, most importantly, good health,” said Neuer told the club’s ’51’ magazine.
“We’re looking ahead to 2021 with optimism. Our greatest wish for the new year, I think everyone is united on this, is that this pandemic will soon be overcome. We players pick up on your emotions, we experience them with you: You carry us over the distance when it really matters.”
He also admitted that there is no better feeling than playing in a packed stadium and hopes that things can get back to normal soon.
He added, “Those of you who play sport know for sure that success in training and success in competition feels different.
“The passion you ignite in the stands makes a big difference. We players pick up on your emotions, we experience them with you: You carry us over the distance when it really matters.”
In conclusion, Neuer admitted that the club were now focussed on winning their next title – the Club World Cup.
“Winning the Club World Cup in 2013 was a great experience and we want to repeat that again,” he said.
“As Champions League winners, we want to make more history again with this title. It is an opportunity we have to seize.
“For me personally, I have never experienced such a cohesion in a team and I’ve been involved in football for quite a while.
“We push each other more than ever before because we have to unleash these great forces from within even more.”
