Bayern Munich will look to go top of the table when they travel to face league leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Coming off a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg in their last match, thanks to a double from now FIFA’s Best Men’s Player Robert Lewandowski after they fell behind early thanks to a Maximilian Philipp goal just five minutes into the match.

Goals either side of half-time were enough for Munich to take all three points and they will be hoping for a similar result come Saturday. Lewandowski had Bayern’s only two shots on target for the entire match with his brace enough to secure a vital three points. The 2-1 win ended Wolfsburg’s unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season.

Bayer Leverkusen currently sits one point clear at the top of the Bundesliga and are undefeated heading into this clash after 12 matches (W8 D4) and are coming off a 4-0 rout of FC Koln.

Team news Bayern Munich

Bayern will be without Javi Martinez, Joshua Kimmich, and Leon Goretzka for this one and all are unlikely to return until after the winter break. Both Benjamin Pavard and Alphonso Davis are expected to feature in some capacity with Niklas Sule dropping to the bench.

Hansi Flick deployed an extremely attacking 4-1-4-1 formation for the Wolfsburg clash with Corentin Tolisso at the base of the midfield.

Bayern were unbalanced with the attacking formation, so expect either Jamal Musiala or Marc Roca to partner Tolisso in Bayern’s midfield.

Predicted XI: Neuer, Pavard, Boateng, Alaba, Davies, Tolisso, Musiala, Gnabry, Muller, Coman, Lewandowski.

Team news Bayer Leverkusen

For Leverkusen, Paulinho, Exequiel Palacios, and Santiago Arias are all out for an extended period. Both Sven Bender and Charles Aranguiz have muscle injuries and are struggling to be fit.

It is shaping up as a huge clash at the top of the Bundesliga. With RB Leipzig expected to get the win over FC Koln, the pressure is on Bayern Munich to secure three points. If they do, Munich can go to the top of the table heading into the winter break.

It is going to be a tight and tense affair with Bayern struggling to be at their best of late, while Leverkusen are flying, there will be goals so expect an exciting game.

Prediction: Leverkusen 2-2 Bayern Munich
