Bayern Munich return their attention to Bundesliga affairs. The record German champions take on Union Berlin on the road.

Against RB Leipzig and Lokomotiv Moscow, Leroy Sane started from the first minute. The marquee signing of this summer’s transfer window has struggled to integrate due to injury concerns.

The former Manchester City man is available for selection against Union Berlin, but Hansi Flick has not made up his mind yet. The Bayern manager wants to take his time in integrating Sane into the first-team fold.

Flick hailed Sane’s personality and the work he has put in on the training field. He pointed at the German international’s recent injury record and believes he needs more time to play regularly.

“I would like to say one thing to Leroy: Leroy had a serious injury and then suffered another injury in Hoffenheim,” the 55-year-old tactician commented. “You need trust in your body. Anyone who has ever had an injury knows that trust first has to endure one or two tests. This is completely normal.

“In my experience with him, he is a very, very self-critical player and a person. He has developed well in the past few weeks. I see an enormous increase in terms of its qualities. He will continue to get his operating times. We’ll wait and see if he’ll play on Saturday.”

While Sane might not start in Berlin, Kingsley Coman will. The French attacker has become an automatic starter for Bayern. Flick is managing his workload at the moment and allowed him to recuperate after his three-assist showing against RB Leipzig.
